Carlos Rojas

Full-stack, systems, and ML engineer. I build software, and sometimes the board it runs on.

About

High school robotics in Laredo taught me to solve hard problems with limited parts. Now I study ECE at UT Austin and build across full-stack, embedded, and machine learning.

I care about software that is clear, built to last, and honest about what it does. Most of my favorite projects sit where code meets hardware.

Where I've worked.

Full résumé (PDF)
  • Working on the Devices team under Amazon Photos curation, building automated systems that serve millions of customers.

    • Designed and implemented an automated greeting card generation system serving 20%+ of Amazon Photos customers who have labeled loved ones, replacing a manual process with a scalable, rules-based pipeline
    • Built automated customer eligibility identification using face clusters, relationship labels, and household classification to determine greeting card recipients across 8+ occasion types (birthdays, holidays, anniversaries)

Selected work

Things I've built.

Base Power × AITX Hackathon · Team of 3

ARCA

Automatic root-cause response for a home-battery fleet. Matched 40 of 47 faulted units with zero wrong hardware pulls.

FleetFlight

Model checker for battery firmware: 1.29M states in about 36 s, with 3D replay.

Fantasy GM

Lineup optimizer, trade finder, and playoff odds from 5,000 simulated seasons.

FormCoach

Jump-form analysis with MediaPipe Pose, entirely in the browser.

Yash Shell

Unix shell in C: pipes, redirection, job control.

ECE 302 · Team of 2

Buck Converter

Synchronous buck converter on a custom 2-layer PCB, 20 V in to about 5 V out. Laid out in KiCad, assembled, and brought up on the scope.
